Technical Description
P055C is an OBD-II diagnostic trouble code indicating that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a voltage signal from Crankcase Pressure Sensor 'B' that is below the calibrated threshold. This sensor monitors the internal pressure of the engine's crankcase to manage the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system. Typically, the sensor operates on a 5V reference circuit. If the signal voltage drops significantly (usually below 0.3V-0.5V) for a specific duration, the ECM triggers the code. This logic monitors for short circuits to ground or open circuits in the signal line.
Possible Causes
Short circuit to ground in the signal wire or a faulty sensor.
Open circuit in the 5V reference wire to the sensor.
Clogged or obstructed PCV hoses affecting sensor readings.
Internal ECM hardware failure.

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
