The audio unit (AUM) has registered an internal fault in its CD mechanism when the ignition is switched on. The fault normally lies in a defective audio unit. The CD player may then stop working, and navigation and the audio system can be affected.

- 1Read and note all stored codes before anything is cleared
- 2Use diagnostic equipment to establish whether the fault is permanent or intermittent
- 3If the code is not stored after a test run, the fault was probably temporary
- 4Replace the audio unit if the fault remains; after replacement it can take a while before GPS signals are received correctly
