The brake control module (BCM) is factory-programmed for several vehicle models and reads the vehicle configuration from the central electronic module (CEM) at the first ignition cycle. The code is set when the configuration does not match the car, for example if a module from another model has been fitted. It mainly applies to cars with a stability system.

1Check that the correct central electronic module is fitted in the car

3If the brake control module has been tested in another car, the code may have been stored; clear the codes and check that it does not return
4If the configuration is wrong, a workshop needs to reset and configure the brake control module
5The brake and stability systems are safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out all work on the modules
