The high voltage battery gets wake-up commands over dedicated cables from the engine control module (ECM) via relays. The code is set when the PSR signal, which relates to operation, is too low for the battery energy control module (BECM). The fault may be caused by a fault in the central electronic module (CEM) or by poor connections.
