The engine control module (ECM) has registered a communication fault with the immobiliser, the electronic lock that checks the key before the engine is allowed to start. The fault is most often caused by an open circuit or a short circuit in the communication wire, but a defective immobiliser or engine control module can also set the code. With this fault the engine does not start.

Hva du kan gjøre
- 1Try the spare key to see whether the engine starts
- 2Read and clear the fault code and check whether it returns
- 3Check that the connectors at the immobiliser and the engine control module are secure and clean
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the communication wire has no open circuit and is not short-circuited to ground or supply voltage
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the immobiliser and fix those first
- 6Have a workshop check the immobiliser and the engine control module if the fault remains
