The engine control module (ECM) monitors the bypass valve on the charge air cooler and how it works. The fault is set when the position sensor signal from the bypass valve is too high, meaning the reading sits above the expected position.
Mulige årsaker
- Loose contact or oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire to the position sensor shorted to positive
- Open circuit in the signal ground wire to the position sensor
- Damaged bypass valve
Hva du kan gjøre
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 3Look at the connectors at the position sensor and the bypass valve for chafing, pinching and loose connections
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: check whether the bypass valve position value in live data stays at a high reading when you activate the valve
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the position sensor has no contact with positive, and that the ground wire is not broken
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the bypass valve and its position sensor with diagnostic equipment
