The code is set when the engine control module (ECM) has found that an earlier recorded fault on a safety-related component has not been remedied within a reasonable time. The module then goes into a degraded state and performance is limited, including vehicle speed. It is an information code that comes from another fault, and that fault should be traced first.

- 1Read all the codes in the car. This code never occurs on its own, so the fault that caused it has to be found first.
- 2Remedy the fault on the safety-related components as soon as possible, because the limitation is set when a fault has not been remedied within a reasonable time.
- 3If you cannot find the other fault yourself, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment read the codes and trace the fault.
- 4Once the fault is remedied, read the codes again and check that this code has gone.
