The engine control module (ECM) compares the PWM signal with the analogue signal from the accelerator pedal sensor, and the code is set when the difference between them becomes too great. The analogue signal goes via the central electronic module (CEM) over CAN, so troubleshooting starts there. The code is also set on a fault in throttle potentiometer 2.

4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wires are not short-circuited to each other or to ground
5With a diagnostic tool, compare the two pedal signals in live data while the pedal is pressed and released; they should follow each other
6After a repair, read the diagnostic status and check that the code does not return
