The code concerns the shut-off valve in the A/C system, that is the evaporator valve for cooling. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the valve all the time, and if it does not work the A/C function is affected. The code is set when the signal wire to the valve is shorted or has an open circuit.

1Read the code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is active or only stored
2Check that the fuses are intact; their location is shown in the owner's manual
3Check the connectors to the valve for contact resistance and oxidation
4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the valve are not shorted to ground (the body)
5With a diagnostic tool, activate the valve and listen or feel whether it moves
6Have a workshop check the valve if the fault remains
