The code concerns the performance of the high speed CAN network and is set when the engine control module (ECM) detects a serious disturbance in CAN communication. The fault may lie in the wiring, in the connections or in another control module on the same part of the network.
Mulige årsaker
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in one of the CAN wires
- Short circuit between the CAN wires
- Internal fault in the ECM
- Internal fault in another control module on the same part of the CAN network
Hva du kan gjøre
- 1Read the codes also in the central electronic control module (CEM), which monitors the voltage on the CAN wires
- 2Check the connectors to the engine control module and to the other control modules on the CAN network for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation
- 3Gently shake the wires and pull lightly on the connectors during the check, since the breaks may come and go
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the CAN wires have no break and no short to each other
- 5Have a workshop measure the load on the CAN network and identify which control module is communicating wrongly

- The engine control module switches itself off on the network (bus-off)
- The engine control module stays off until the voltage supply has been broken
- When the voltage is switched on again, the engine control module makes new attempts to communicate
