The control module compares the vehicle configuration received from the central electronic module (CEM) with the configuration stored in itself. The fault is stored when they do not match. The cause may be a module taken from a different car, or wrong software in the control module.

- 1Check that the control module comes from the same car, for example if it has been replaced or fitted after a repair
- 2Read the fault codes in the car, clear this one and check whether it returns
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop program the control module with the correct software and check the central electronic module (CEM)
- 4Steering is a safety system: have a workshop check the car if the steering feels abnormal
