The airbag control module normally receives information from the central electronic module (CEM) over CAN and checks its quality. The code is set when the CEM sends signals of lower quality than the airbag module accepts. Fault-tracing is done in the CEM, since the fault comes from there.

- 1Read out the fault codes in the car and start with those in the central electronic module (CEM)
- 2Have a workshop fault-trace the central electronic module (CEM), since it is the transmitting control module
- 3Do not erase the code until the fault in the CEM has been remedied and its code has been erased
- 4After the repair, switch the ignition off, switch it on again and see whether the code is gone
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out all wiring and control module checks
