The transmission control module has registered that the voltage to the position sensors for the even gears is too low. The cause may be a supply wire shorted to ground, damaged wires or connectors, or a damaged control module.

1Read the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
2With the ignition off, check the wires and connectors to the position sensors for the even gears for chafing and loose contacts
3Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire has no contact with ground
4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the voltage to the position sensors in live data; if it is outside the normal range the fault most likely lies in the module
5Have a workshop replace the transmission control module or the mechatronic unit if the fault remains; a new module must be programmed
