Technical Description
P0234 is stored when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects that the intake boost pressure exceeds the maximum limit for a predetermined duration (typically >4 PSI over targeted boost for more than 5 seconds). This indicates a failure in the boost pressure control system. The ECU will often trigger 'Limp Home Mode' to protect the engine from catastrophic failure such as piston damage or head gasket failure. The ECU manages this by modifying fuel maps and reducing boost via high-priority CAN-bus messages.

Sticking or seized wastegate actuator or VNT (Variable Nozzle Turbine) vanes
Faulty Boost Control Solenoid (N75 valve)
Faulty Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor providing skewed readings
Damaged, kinked or blocked vacuum lines to the boost actuator
