Was bedeutet der Fehlercode?
The CEM both sends and receives information over the LIN bus, a standardised serial communication method. The code is stored when communication with the steering wheel module (SWM) is lost for a set time. The turn signals, wipers and washer then do not work, and the trip computer may show faults.
Mögliche Ursachen
- Open circuit on the power feed to the steering wheel module (SWM)
- Break in the ground lead to the steering wheel module (SWM)
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Break or short circuit on the LIN bus to the steering wheel module (SWM)
- Damaged steering wheel module (SWM)
- Internal fault in another unit on the same part of the LIN network
Was Sie tun können
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: check whether the CEM has other fault codes ending in 86 or 88 and deal with those first, since they point to the LIN bus
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3Check that the connectors in the steering wheel and the connections to the steering wheel module are secure and not oxidised
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the steering wheel module status in live data and check that it responds
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the LIN bus, the power supply and the steering wheel module
