The instrument cluster (DIM) has detected a fault in its program memory, the part where its software is stored. This is an internal fault in the instrument cluster and not a communication problem with other modules. It can affect the trip computer, some gauges and certain functions controlled from the instrument cluster.

- 1Do not drive the car if the brake pedal is heavier than usual, the steering lock does not work or the engine starts unreliably. Have a workshop check the car first
- 2Read the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3Check that the fuses for the instrument cluster are intact and that the connectors are fully engaged
- 4If the fault comes back straight after clearing, the instrument cluster is most likely damaged
- 5Have a workshop replace the instrument cluster and check that the fault does not return once the new unit is programmed for the car
