Was bedeutet der Fehlercode?
The engine control module (ECM) uses the signal from the heated oxygen sensor to regulate the fuel and air mixture. The fault is stored when the control module detects that the sensor signal is wrong, for example too high, too low or missing altogether. The cause may be the sensor, the wiring between the sensor and the control module, or the connectors.
Mögliche Ursachen
- Damaged heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage, giving a signal that is too high
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground, giving a signal that is too low
- Open circuit in the signal cable, so the signal is missing
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
Was Sie tun können
- 1Read the code, clear it and drive for a while to see whether it returns
- 2Switch off the ignition and check the oxygen sensor connector: it should be secure, clean and free from oxidation
- 3Check that the signal cable from the oxygen sensor is not chafed or pinched and does not run against hot parts of the exhaust system
- 4With the car switched off, use a multimeter to check that the signal cable is not broken and has no contact with ground or supply voltage
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the oxygen sensor value changes while driving. A value that stays completely still indicates a faulty signal
