The engine control module (ECM) monitors the charge air cooler bypass valve and how it works. The fault is set when the signal from the valve is too low, which happens when the valve sticks or jams while being driven towards open or closed.

- Control valve at the inlet is sticking or jammed
- Damaged control valve at the inlet

- 1Read the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2With a diagnostic tool, activate the bypass valve and check that it moves freely in both directions
- 3Look at the bypass valve for dirt and damage that could make it stick
- 4Check that the fuses are intact. Fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the control valve at the inlet with diagnostic equipment and replace it if needed
