Was bedeutet der Fehlercode?
The transmission control module (TCM) has registered that the signal in the circuit to shift solenoid S5 is missing. The solenoid is one of those that control gear changes in the automatic gearbox, and when the signal is interrupted the control module cannot operate it correctly. The control module tests the circuit by applying a small control current, so the fault can be set even when the solenoid is not active.
Mögliche Ursachen
- Contact resistance in the connectors to the solenoid or the control module
- Open circuit in the signal wiring to the solenoid
- Signal wiring short-circuited to supply voltage
- Defective solenoid
- Internal fault inside the TCM
Was Sie tun können
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the wiring and connectors from the gearbox are not loose, corroded or chafed
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate solenoid S5 and check that its status changes between off and on
- 4If the status does not change, the fault is permanent and a workshop should check the connectors on the gearbox and the solenoid
- 5If the status changes, the fault has been present before but is not active at the moment; clear the code and road test to follow up
- 6With a diagnostic tool, read the transmission fluid temperature on a road test; odd readings may point to a faulty oil temperature sensor
Symptome, die Sie bemerken können5
- The orange general warning lamp is lit
- The malfunction indicator lamp is lit
- Gear changes are harsh or do not occur at all
- The lock-up function does not work
- The automatic transmission warning lamp flashes
Was der Fehler beeinflussen kann1
- The control module emergency program Emergency mode I is activated
