The engine control module controls the variable cam profiles and monitors the control signal to the cam profile valves on the intake side, bank 2. It is a general fault with no more specific description, and it is set when the control signal is missing.

- Dirty or damaged cam profile solenoid
- Poor contact or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the supply wire
- Open circuit in the signal wire

- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector at the bank 2 cam profile solenoid for loose or oxidised parts
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the solenoid have no open circuit
- 4Look for chafed or pinched wiring along the harness to the solenoid
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the intake-side cam profile control and check that it responds
- 6If the fault returns: have a workshop clean the cam profile solenoid, or replace it if it still malfunctions
