The engine control module (ECM) controls the general warning lamp over the CAN bus to the driver information module (DIM). The code is set when the engine control module detects a fault on the signal to the warning lamp, described as an open circuit. Fault-tracing is primarily carried out in the driver information module.

- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are given in the owner's manual
- 2Check with buttons or controls in the car whether the functions that are normally controlled work as they should
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the warning lamp is intact, meaning it has no break
- 4Check that the connectors in the wire are firmly seated and free from chafing or corrosion
- 5If the fault code returns: have a workshop fault-trace the driver information module (DIM)
