Technical Description
DTC B0097 indicates a circuit or communication malfunction associated with the Right Side Restraints Sensor 2 (typically located in the C-pillar, rear door, or lower quarter panel). Modern satellite crash sensors communicate with the Restraints Control Module (RCM) via a two-wire current-loop bus (e.g., PSI5 or PAS4 protocol). The code is logged when the RCM detects an open circuit, short to ground/battery, out-of-range quiescent current, or corrupted/missing digital data packets from the peripheral accelerometer.
Possible Causes
1. Skadat kablage, klämskador eller ärgade stift i dörrövergång/tröskel/B-C-stolpe.
2. Defekt perifer sidoslagssensor (internt kretskort/accelerometerfel p.g.a. fukt eller mikrosprickor).
3. Defekt/felkalibrerad Krockkuddestyrenhet (RCM/SDM) eller intern hårdvaruskada i RCM-gränssnittschip.

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
