Technical Description
DTC B0160 indicates a circuit malfunction or communication loss between the SRS Airbag Control Module (SDM/ACU) and a peripheral impact sensor (accelerometer) or seatbelt pretensioner deployment loop. Peripheral crash sensors typically use a two-wire current-loop protocol (such as PSI5 or DSI), powered by the SDM and transmitting continuous Manchester-encoded acceleration telemetry by modulating current draw (approx. 4-8 mA low / 18-28 mA high). The DTC sets when the loop impedance is out of range, circuit is shorted/open, or valid sync/data frames are missing.
Possible Causes
1. Korrosion eller stiftglapp i dörr-/B-stolpekontaktdon eller under förar-/passagerarstol (utsatt för fukt/mekanisk belastning)
2. Skadat kablage (klämskada i dörrgenomföring eller tröskelpanel)
3. Defekt perifer krocksensor (intern piezoelektrisk/kapacitiv accelerometerkomponent eller transceiverfel)
4. Internt hårdvarufel i SRS-styrdonet (Airbag Control Module)

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
