Technical Description
DTC B0198 is set by the Restraints Control Module (RCM/SDM) upon detecting an out-of-range circuit condition (open circuit, high resistance, short to ground, or short to power) across the passenger-side seatbelt pretensioner squib circuit or peripheral impact satellite sensor loop. The RCM monitors the deployment loop using a low-amperage diagnostic current. If loop impedance deviates from the calibrated window (typically 1.8 – 2.8 Ω for squibs, or standard current-loop telemetry for digital satellite accelerometers), the diagnostic monitor flags B0198 and inhibits restraint deployment on that branch.
Possible Causes
1. Dålig kontakt/glapp eller oxidation i kabelskarv/kontaktstycke under passagerarstol eller i B-stolpe.
2. Avbrott eller internt fel i bältessträckarens tändpiller (squib).
3. Klämd eller skavd kabelstam i tröskellist/stolschassi (kortslutning mot jord).
4. Defekt krocksensor (satellitaccelerometer) i B-stolpe/dörr.
5. Internt hårdvarufel i Airbag-styrenheten (RCM/SDM).

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
