Technical Description
DTC C0038 indicates a malfunction in the Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Tone Wheel or sensor sub-circuit. The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) monitors pulse frequency, signal integrity, and continuity. The DTC sets when the module detects erratic pulses, missing wheel speed signal, plausible speed discrepancy compared to other wheels, or tone wheel encoder damage (cracked ring / missing teeth) during vehicle motion.
Possible Causes
1. Skadad, korroderad eller sprucken magnetisk enkoderring (tonhjul integrerat i hjullager/nav)
2. Fysiskt slitage, metallspån/föroreningar eller felaktigt luftgap mellan sensor och tonhjul
3. Kablagefel (avbrott, kortslutning mot jord/spänning eller ärg i kontaktstycke i hjulhus)
4. Defekt aktiv hjulhastighetsgivare (intern Hall-effekttransistor trasig)
5. Glapp i hjullager som ändrar luftgapet under dynamisk belastning / kurvtagning
6. Internt fel i ABS/ESP-styrenhetens ingångssteg
