Technical Description
DTC C0051 is triggered when the ABS/ESC control module detects an internal circuit fault, supply voltage deviation, communication timeout, or plausibility error from the Steering Wheel Position Sensor (SAS). The sensor measures absolute steering angle, direction, and angular rate using optical arrays, Hall-effect elements, or giant magnetoresistive (GMR) technology. The fault sets if the phase correlation between redundant internal tracks diverges, the zero-point index calibration is lost, or CAN/LIN bus communication between the SAS and the brake ECU fails.
Possible Causes
3. Smutsiga eller brända fotodioder / optiska skivor eller defekt integrerad krets i styrvinkelenheten.
4. Oxiderade eller glappa stift i ABS-hydraulaggregatets eller rattstångsmodulens huvudkontaktdon.
5. Mekanisk felinställning där rattstången monterats ett varv (360°) fel i förhållande till styrväxeln.

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
