Technical Description
DTC C0303 is set by the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) when an unexpected high voltage state (typically > 6.0V or short to B+) is detected on the transfer case encoder/actuator motor lock solenoid control circuit while commanded off. The shift motor lock solenoid physically releases the mechanical brake on the encoder/shift motor armature prior to rotational positioning. A short to voltage or faulty internal low/high-side driver prevents proper de-energizing or lock verification, disabling 4WD mode transitions.
Possible Causes
1. Kortslutning mot 12V (B+) i kablaget mellan TCCM och ställdonets låssolenoid (skav mot intilliggande strömförande kablar under underredet).
2. Defekt ställdon/enkodernenhet (intern kortslutning i solenoidens lindning mot matning/motorfas).
3. Defekt utgång/drivsteg (MOSFET-kortslutning) i fördelningslådans styrmodul (TCCM).
4. Korrosion och krypströmmar i chassikontaktdon vid fördelningslådan.

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
