Technical Description
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0002 is set when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects a range or performance issue within the Fuel Volume Regulator (FVR) control circuit. The FVR is typically a solenoid valve located on the high-pressure fuel pump that modulates the amount of fuel entering the pumping chamber. The ECU uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to control this solenoid. P0002 indicates that while the circuit is electrically complete, the feedback or the current draw does not match the commanded state, or the fuel rail pressure response is irrational compared to the duty cycle applied.
Possible Causes
Faulty Fuel Volume Regulator (FVR) solenoid on the high-pressure pump
Damaged wiring harness or corrosion in connectors (high resistance)
Faulty Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor providing incorrect feedback
Internal Engine Control Unit (ECU) failure or software glitch

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
