Technical Description
P0005 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for an 'open' condition in the fuel shut-off valve control circuit. The fuel shut-off valve is a solenoid-operated device designed to cut off fuel delivery to the engine. The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the continuity of this circuit. If the ECM detects that there is no electrical path (infinite resistance), it triggers P0005. This is typically caused by a broken wire, a disconnected plug, or a failed internal solenoid coil.
Possible Causes
Faulty fuel shut-off solenoid (internal open circuit in the coil)
Loose or corroded connector at the valve
Wiring harness break between the ECM and the solenoid
Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) or blown fuel system fuse VIDA.

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
