Technical Description
P0392 is an OBD-II diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a low voltage signal from the exhaust camshaft position sensor (Sensor B) on Bank 2. This sensor is critical for the ECM to determine the exact position of the camshaft relative to the crankshaft. A 'Circuit Low' condition typically indicates a short to ground in the signal wire, a faulty sensor pulling the voltage down, or a loss of reference voltage. This affects ignition timing and fuel injection synchronization.
Possible Causes
Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor (internal short)
Wiring harness damaged or shorted to ground in the signal circuit
Connector corrosion causing high resistance or poor connection
Improper camshaft timing or faulty PCM/ECM

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
