Technical Description
P0575 is stored when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects an electrical malfunction or signal correlation error within the cruise control input circuit. The ECM monitors the voltage levels from the cruise control switches, typically arranged in a resistor ladder network. When a button is pressed, the ECM expects a specific voltage drop; if the signal is inconsistent or outside calibrated parameters (e.g., due to an open circuit or short to ground), the system disables cruise control functionality for safety reasons.
Possible Causes
Faulty cruise control switch cluster (internal resistance error)
Failing clock spring (spiral cable) behind the steering wheel
Wiring harness damage or oxidized connectors in the steering column
Internal ECM/BCM fault or software corruption

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
