Technical Description
P2401 is set when the Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects an unexpectedly low voltage on the control circuit for the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Leak Detection Pump (LDP). This pump is used to pressurize the fuel system to check for hydrocarbon leaks. The code is triggered when the ECU attempts to command the pump 'ON' but senses a voltage level below a specific threshold (typically near 0V), indicating a short to ground or an open circuit in the driver stage.
Possible Causes
Faulty Leak Detection Pump (LDP) internal electrical failure
Short to ground in the control circuit wiring harness
Blown fuse or faulty relay for the EVAP system
Internal Engine Control Unit (ECU) failure

Mechanic's Tip
Before replacing expensive components, always double-check wiring and connections. 80% of all sensor faults are actually due to corroded contacts or broken wires.
