P260F - Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Monitoring Processor Performance

Related:Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Monitoring Processor Performance, Wiring harness and connectors, Control Module (ECM/PCM)

    System

    Powertrain (Engine & Gearbox)

    Technical Description

The control module has detected a fault in the Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Monitoring Processor Performance (P260F).

Multimeter Test Points & Nominal Values

    Oscilloscope Waveform Analysis

    2 ms/div, 20 V/div
Capture the PWM control signal. The square wave must have clean edges, a stable frequency (typically 30 - 200 Hz), and a distinct flyback spike on every switch-off.

    Possible Causes

    1

Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Monitoring Processor Performance is electrically operational but performing outside calibrated tolerance

    2

Chafed or pinched wiring harness along the signal path to Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Monitoring Processor Performance

    3

Internal mechanical wear or carbon deposits inside Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Monitoring Processor Performance

    4

Defective internal output driver or reference circuit in the control module for Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Monitoring Processor Performance

    Symptoms

    4
Subsystem operating efficiency falls below calibrated threshold
    Check Engine Light (MIL) illuminated
    Possible drivability or power reduction
Risk of failing an emissions inspection

    Recommended Solution

    1

Verify underlying mechanical operation and rule out blockage, vacuum leaks, or mechanical binding.

    2

Verify loaded supply voltage and harness terminal pins at Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Monitoring Processor Performance.

    3

Check circuit continuity and ground-side voltage drop (< 0.05 V) for Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Monitoring Processor Performance.

    4

Check supply and the low-side driver at the ECM connector. Replace the actuator or repair the circuit based on the readings.

    Mechanic's Tip

Use the scan-tool output test with the scope on the control side at the same time. If duty changes but the actuator does not move, the valve is stuck — not the electrical fault you were chasing.
