What does this fault code mean?
The ABS control module is receiving a faulty signal from the wheel speed sensor on the right front wheel. The signal is needed for the module to control ABS, traction control and brake force distribution, and when it does not match, these functions are switched off. A connector or the wiring to the sensor is the most common cause.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in terminals or connections
- Loose connection or joint in the wiring
- Wiring routed too close to a source of electrical interference
- Damaged cable insulation
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and check whether it returns
- 2Check the connectors at the right front wheel sensor and at the ABS control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check that the cable insulation is intact and that no wires are chafed or pinched
- 4Check that the sensor wiring is not routed too close to sources of electrical interference
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensor and the wiring
- 6ABS is safety-critical – do not work on the brake system yourself, have a workshop do it
Symptoms you may notice4
- ABS warning lamp lit
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- Brake system warning lamp lit
- ABS and traction control do not work
What the fault can affect3
- ABS function is blocked
- Brake force distribution is blocked
- Traction control function is blocked
