What does this fault code mean?
The ABS control module, which also handles stability control, is programmed at the factory for several car models and configures itself to the car's model and equipment the first time the ignition is switched on. If a module that was fitted to another car model has been installed, for example during a repair, the configuration can be wrong and the code is set.
Possible causes
- An ABS control module from another car model has been fitted
- A central electronic module (CEM) from another car model has been fitted
What you can do
- 1First check the central electronic module (CEM), since an incorrectly configured CEM can affect the ABS module's configuration; trace any codes stored in the CEM first
- 2Clear the codes and check that they do not return
- 3Have a workshop reset and configure the ABS control module with the correct car model selected
- 4Afterwards, check that the configuration is correct for the car and that the functions work
- 5ABS is safety-critical – do not work on the ABS control module's configuration yourself, have a workshop do it
Symptoms you may notice4
- Traction control does not work
- Stability control does not work
- ABS warning lamp flashes
- Traction control warning lamp lit
