What does this fault code mean?
At some point the voltage in the car's electrical system was too high for the ABS control module. The fault is intermittent and may not be present now. The most common cause is a battery charger or starter unit connected with too high a voltage setting, but a faulty charging system can also overcharge the battery.
Possible causes
- Charger or jump-start unit hooked up with its voltage set too high
- Charging system overcharging the battery
What you can do
- 1Ask whether a battery charger or starter unit has been connected to the car and whether it was set to the correct voltage
- 2If no external charger or starter unit has been used, have a workshop check the charging system and voltage regulation
- 3Clear the code and check whether it returns
- 4If it returns, the charging system should be checked by a workshop
- 5ABS is safety-critical – do not work on the brake system yourself, have a workshop do it
Symptoms you may notice5
- ABS warning lamp lit
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- Brake system warning lamp lit
- ABS does not work
- Traction control does not work
What the fault can affect3
- ABS and traction control are blocked
- Brake force distribution is disabled
- The extra traction function is blocked on cars that have it
