What does this fault code mean?
The ABS control module has registered that the load signal from the engine control module is missing. That signal is used to regulate the anti-spin function, and without it the ABS module cannot judge how much the engine contributes to wheel movement. The code therefore mainly concerns anti-spin, and the cause is normally in the engine management system.
Possible causes
- Fault in the engine management system
- Poor contact in the communication between the engine control module and the ABS module
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the engine control module and deal with any faults there first
- 2See whether the communication wiring between the modules runs close to electric motors or ignition cables
- 3Remedy any wiring faults and clear the code
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the signal from the engine control module
- 5ABS is safety-critical – do not work on the brake system yourself, have a workshop do it
Symptoms you may notice2
- Anti-spin warning lamp lit
- Anti-spin does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Anti-spin function is disengaged
