What does this fault code mean?
At some point the ABS control module registered that communication on the data network was disturbed or lost. The fault is intermittent, meaning it is sporadic, and may not be present now. The cause may lie in the ABS module, the central electronic module (CEM), another control module that is disturbing the network, or the communication wires.
Possible causes
- Faulty ABS control module
- Faulty central electronic module (CEM)
- Another control module disturbing communication on the network
- Fault in the communication wires
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronic module and the other control modules and deal with those first
- 2Check that the communication wires between the modules do not run alongside electric motors, ignition cables or phone wiring
- 3Clear the code and check whether it returns; a single intermittent fault can be a temporary disturbance
- 4If the fault remains or returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment trace the data network
- 5ABS is safety-critical – do not work on the ABS control module or the brake system yourself, have a workshop do it
Symptoms you may notice3
