What does this fault code mean?
Yaw-velocity sensor 1 tells the ABS control module how far and in which direction the car is yawing. This code applies only to cars with stability control. The module has registered a faulty signal from the sensor, and the fault is intermittent, meaning it comes and goes. The equivalent code for yaw-velocity sensor 2 is ABS-00B2.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the wiring to the sensor
- Wiring shorted to ground or supply voltage
- Loose yaw-velocity sensor
- Faulty yaw-velocity sensor or, less commonly, a faulty control module
What you can do
- 1Check that the sensor is firmly secured and that its bracket is undamaged
- 2Check the connector at the control module and at the yaw-velocity sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Follow the wiring to the sensor and look for open circuits, chafing and shorts to ground or supply voltage
- 4Remedy as necessary, road test and clear the code
- 5If the fault remains or returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensor and the wiring
- 6ABS and stability control are safety-critical – do not work on the ABS module or the brake system yourself, have a workshop do it
Symptoms you may notice3
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function is absent
- Anti-spin warning lamp lit
What the fault can affect2
- Anti-spin function is blocked
- Stability function is blocked
