What does this fault code mean?
Yaw-velocity sensors 1 and 2 give the ABS control module a signal about the car's yaw. The module has registered that the signal from the sensor is implausible, which can be due to a loose sensor, a damaged wire or a faulty sensor. The code applies only to cars with stability control, and anti-spin and stability functions are blocked for as long as the fault is present.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the wiring
- Wiring shorted to ground or supply voltage
- Loose yaw-velocity sensor
- Faulty yaw-velocity sensor or, less commonly, a faulty control module
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors at the ABS module and at the yaw-velocity sensors are secure and free from oxidation
- 2Check that the sensors are correctly fitted and that the mounting bracket is firmly secured
- 3Check that the sensor wiring is intact, without chafing or pinched sections
- 4Remedy as necessary, clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure the sensor signals
- 6ABS and stability control are safety-critical – do not work on the ABS module or the brake system yourself, have a workshop do it
