What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor module (SAS) is initialised when the steering wheel is turned in either direction shortly after the car is started. If this does not happen, no steering angle is sent to the ABS module. This code applies only to cars with stability control, and while it is present anti-spin and stability are blocked. The cause is either a fault on the CAN data network or an internal fault in the SAS control unit.
Possible causes
- Disturbances on the CAN network
- Internal fault in the steering angle sensor module (SAS)
What you can do
- 1Turn the steering wheel in either direction after starting and check whether the fault clears
- 2Read the codes in the steering angle sensor control unit and trace them according to the system information
- 3Check the battery and its terminals, since voltage problems can disturb the CAN network
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the network and the control unit
- 5ABS, stability and steering are safety-critical – do not work on the ABS module or the steering angle sensor yourself, have a workshop do it
Symptoms you may notice3
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function is absent
- Anti-spin warning lamp lit
What the fault can affect2
- Anti-spin function is blocked
- Stability function is blocked
