What does this fault code mean?
When the ignition is switched on, the ABS control module checks that the system signals are reasonable. If the signal quality from the steering angle module (SAS) is found to be too poor, the code is set. The fault most likely lies in that module. This code applies only to cars with stability control, while anti-spin and stability are blocked.
Possible causes
- Probably a code already stored in the steering angle module (SAS)
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the steering angle sensor control unit and deal with those first
- 2Clear the codes and road test to see whether they return
- 3Check the battery and its terminals, since voltage drops can give faulty signals
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment trace the steering angle sensor control unit
- 5ABS, stability and steering are safety-critical – do not work on these systems yourself, have a workshop do it
Symptoms you may notice3
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function is absent
- Anti-spin warning lamp lit
What the fault can affect2
- Anti-spin function is blocked
- Stability function is blocked
