What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor module (SAS) puts signals onto the data network, and the ABS module compares them with the yaw-velocity signal. If the two do not agree, the code is set. The cause can be disturbances on the data network, an internal fault in the SAS module or an incorrect front wheel alignment. This code applies only to cars with stability control.
Possible causes
- Disturbances on the CAN network
- Internal fault in the steering angle sensor module (SAS)
- Incorrect front wheel alignment
What you can do
- 1Read the steering angle with diagnostic equipment while the steering wheel is in the straight-ahead position
- 2Check that the front wheel alignment is correct and that the steering wheel sits straight when the car runs straight
- 3If the alignment is wrong, the front suspension must be adjusted and the stability system calibrated
- 4Check the plugs on the ABS module and the steering angle module for resistance and corrosion
- 5Have a workshop calibrate the ABS system after any adjustment and clear the code
- 6ABS, stability and steering are safety-critical – do not work on these systems yourself, have a workshop do it
Symptoms you may notice3
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function is absent
- Anti-spin warning lamp lit
What the fault can affect2
- Anti-spin function is blocked
- Stability function is blocked
