What does this fault code mean?
The reversing signal tells the ABS control module that the car is in reverse. The module has registered a signal that does not fit the other conditions, so the code is set. This code applies only to cars with stability control, and anti-spin and stability are blocked while it is present.
Possible causes
- Faulty signal from the reversing light sensor or switch
- Short or open circuit in the reversing signal wire
- Faulty ABS control module
What you can do
- 1Check that the reversing lights work when reverse gear is selected
- 2Check the connectors at the gear selector and the reversing signal for poor contact and oxidation
- 3Follow the reversing signal wire and look for an open circuit or a short to ground or supply voltage
- 4Clear the code and road test in reverse to see whether it returns
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the signal and the ABS control module
- 6ABS and stability control are safety-critical – do not work on the ABS module or the brake system yourself, have a workshop do it
Symptoms you may notice3
- Anti-spin does not work
- Stability function is absent
- Anti-spin warning lamp lit
What the fault can affect2
