What does this fault code mean?
The level sensor for the additive gives the additive dosing module (ADM) a signal that cannot be trusted. The ADM checks the sensor's function with the ignition on, and when the signal is faulty or implausible the code is set. Because the sensor is built into the additive tank, the tank itself may need replacing if the fault persists.
Possible causes
- Poor contact, resistance or corrosion at the terminals
- Break in the signal wire, or a short to ground or to supply voltage
- Damaged additive level sensor
- Damaged additive dosing module (ADM)
What you can do
- 1Check the connector at the additive tank for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Clear the code and check whether it returns
- 3If the fault returns with no visible cause, the additive tank may need replacing because the sensor is built into it
- 4After any repair, have a workshop restart the module with diagnostic equipment
