This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The AEM checks its configuration ID against the signal configuration that the CEM sends on the CAN network. If the IDs disagree, or the link to the CEM is broken, the code is set. It can only be read if the fault is intermittent. When it is stored, the module answers diagnostic commands, but normal CAN communication does not work.
Possible causes
- Incorrect CAN configuration ID, such as from a second-hand module with different software
- Open circuit in the CAN wires between the module and the CEM
What you can do
- 1Check whether the CEM has codes for failed communication and trace those first
- 2Check that the module is not second-hand with the wrong software and reload the correct software
- 3Check the wires between the module and the CEM for breaks and loose connectors
- 4New software is downloaded
- 5Clear the code after the repair and check that it does not return
Symptoms you may notice1
- Accessories connected to the module stop working
What the fault can affect1
- Normal CAN communication does not work, although the module answers diagnostic commands
