What does this fault code mean?
The AM/FM tuner module (AFM) keeps watch on the signal from the antenna amplifier. It has registered a signal that is too high on the wiring from the amplifier, which sets the code. The fault can be checked while the radio is switched on, and the radio works poorly or not at all.
Possible causes
- Wiring between the antenna amplifier and the tuner module shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Check the tuner module connector for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation
- 2Follow the antenna cable to the amplifier and look for chafing or damage that could cause a short
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop measure the antenna cable and the amplifier with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice2
- The radio does not work
- Poor radio reception
