What does this fault code mean?
The audio module (AUD) has found a signal from the rear loudspeaker that is too high or too low, and the fault appears when the ignition is switched on. It can involve one or both rear speakers. The cause usually lies in the wiring harness, where the line is shorted to supply voltage or to ground.
Possible causes
- Signal wire to the rear loudspeaker shorted to supply voltage
- Signal wire to the rear loudspeaker shorted to ground
- Loose or corroded connector at the speaker
What you can do
- 1Check that the audio system fuses are intact
- 2Inspect the cable to the rear speaker for chafing and pinching
- 3Check the connectors at the speaker and at the audio module for looseness and corrosion
- 4If the car has a tweeter in the D-pillar, check it as well, since it may share a wire with the rear speaker
- 5Read the signal with diagnostic equipment and repair the fault as needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- No sound from the rear speakers
