What does this fault code mean?
The audio control module (AUD) has detected that it is sending or receiving faulty messages on the HS-CAN network, which is recorded as a bus off condition. It is checked while the module is powered. The module then switches off until the power is cut, and it tries to communicate again at the next power-up.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in one or both CAN wires on part of the network
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors in the CAN network for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Measure the resistance and voltage on the CAN network with diagnostic equipment, with the battery disconnected for the resistance test
- 3Move and flex the wiring at accessible points during measurements to reveal intermittent breaks or shorts
- 4Do not replace the central electronic module for a CAN fault unless the diagnosis shows it is faulty
