Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The audio module (AUD) checks its configuration number against the vehicle signal settings broadcast by the central electronic module (CEM) on the CAN network. The code is set when communication with the CEM has been interrupted, so the audio module never received its initial configuration. It can usually only be read out if the fault is intermittent, and it is checked at start-up.
Possible causes
- Break in the CAN network between the infotainment module (ICM) and the central electronic module (CEM)
- Break in the MOST network between the infotainment module (ICM) and the audio module (AUD)
- Central electronic module (CEM) not correctly configured
- Infotainment module (ICM) not passing the vehicle signal configuration on to the MOST network
- Audio module not intended for this car, for example a used unit with different software or hardware
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronic module and the infotainment module, since they are often linked
- 2Check that the battery and its terminals are in good condition, since voltage drops can disturb the data network
- 3With diagnostic equipment check the CAN and MOST networks and the connectors between the units
- 4Have a workshop establish whether the fault lies in the network or in a module before any module is replaced
Symptoms you may notice3
- The speakers do not work
- The sound profile for the driver's seat and for left- or right-hand drive may be wrong
- Other codes for the headphones may be incorrect while this code is set
